If you have a climbing wall award or climbing experience, you should easily qualify for this role, so let us know in your application. Most camps will train you on the safe use of the climbing equipment, so the main qualifications are confidence and a positive attitude.
If you’re a climbing fanatic and want to pass on your skill and inspire others to climb, this role is perfect for you.
Being a climbing instructor at our camps will give you the opportunity to climb at numerous different purpose-built climbing walls as well as natural ones, which is perfect for climbing enthusiasts.
Your role at a camp is to operate and supervise the climbing activities at the camp, as well as helping campers improve their climbing skills.
Climbing instructors will teach campers numerous different forms of climbing techniques such as abseiling, rock climbing and rope climbing as well as other activities such as zip lines.
When you arrive at camp, you will spend around a week getting trained in your activity, to make sure you give the best experience to campers, whilst at the same time ensuring their safety. Don’t worry if you don’t have any relevant qualifications, all we’re asking for is that you’re willing to get stuck in!
Campers come down to sessions in divisions (age groups). These can vary in skill level, but usually are made up of 10-30 campers. You’ll then be paired with an individual camper or a group, and don’t worry - you’ll be supported by your fellow specialists and counsellors.
Of course! Everyone needs time to recharge their batteries after an exciting but hectic week at camp, as well as the opportunity to explore the local area and further afield. Most camps will give you a 24 hour block of free time every week, whilst some others provide 2-4 days off in a row every few weeks.
