I practice positive self-talk every day. I always ask myself, “how would I talk to my best friend if they were feeling the same way I do right now?” I also love listening to and making music! A lot of the Junior Girls that I was counseling were feeling homesick at camp. We made a tradition of having sing-a-longs each night before bed. It always made us feel better!

Most days at camp were so much fun, but sometimes, there were days which felt tough. Luckily, I had formed some strong bonds with other counsellors, and they helped me through those harder days.

Sometimes when campers are feeling sad or are just having a bad day, you don’t have to say anything, just be there. Sit with them and let them know you’re there and you’ve got them.

For me, creativity is self-care - whenever I get overwhelmed, I love to focus on activities like knitting, baking and drawing.
