Facilities at these camps are designed to be accessible for campers with various disabilities - but they're still much the same as any other camp. You'll typically live in cabins, with access to water and electricity, and have meals served in an accessible dining hall or lodge.
You'll also find a higher camper-counsellor ratio, as most campers will need more support during the summer.

Activities at special needs camps include ropes courses, waterfront activities, and even archery. Working with special needs campers can be challenging, but you'll have lots of support from your group of counsellors. It's always rewarding to see campers overcome their challenges and fears - especially when they have such limitations.

These camps are open to campers with any kind of special care requirements. Campers may have varied support needs - physical, mental or emotional, so some camps will have a specific focus (for example, campers with mobility limitations), while others will be open to a mix of campers.
You'll have plenty of support, as the camper-counsellor ratio is often 1:1 at these camps. If you're open, patient, and willing to provide support, you won't need previous experience in a special needs setting.
